Assignment #1

Copyright Issues and internet use
1. University of New Hampshire: School of Law
This is a useful website that explains the importance of copyright and the legal standards of internet use. The University of New Hampshire provides the limitations of copyrights, the details of a license, privatizing websites, and the different types of internet resources available to users. Through this website, I have learned that using a copyright will protect writers', artists', and other users' work through governmental help.

2. http://www.justice.gov/criminal/cybercrime/usamay2001_5.htm
This is a website written by a trial attorney who explains the different types of copy right infringements found in legal cases. There are several different types of limitations and internet fair use policies. Through this website, I have learned that a major concern of the internet is it's a basis of communication that conflicts with the United State's 1st amendment.

Equity Issues in Computer Use in Schools
According to this website, "generally, girls and students of color are alienated and excluded from computers and related technology for a number of social, psychological, attitudinal, and environment reasons." there are also several other factors which contribute to inequity in computer science classes such as: societal myths, negative attitudes, and unequal benefits. However, there are also ways in which minorities can overcome the obstacles of inequality.

This website describes gender bias and gender gap as reasoning for some inequity in computer use within the education system. The website also explains how educators and parents can help motivate girls, in particular, to remain interested in technology. Psychologically, most females are not interested in computer sources and other technological mechanics.
Cultural Issues in the use of Computers in Schools
This is a website that briefly explains the different types of computer uses worldwide and how the technology is vastly growing within cultures. I have learned that many countries have begin to use computers in their education systems at different times than one another, start introducing the technology to students within different age groups, etc. The website then states that organizations have studied this contrast in technology among cultures: "IEA is at the most global level, looking at school systems, with their many different aspects - policy, practice, teachers, and principals. ITEC is at the next, more focused levels - elected classrooms form the research units, with a more detailed study of the "ecosystems" that include children and information technology (IT). YCCI looks most specifically at the children themselves and how IT might be affecting their ways of thinking about themselves".
This website is helpful because it visually shows (through charts and graphs) the differences of cultural issues and computer usage within countries around the world. It also discusses e-learning benefits, gender differences, nationality educational growth, and the attitudes to computer-assisted learning. It is interesting to see how the world views internet use.
Health problems concerning the use of Computers
This website gives advice on health tips for computer use, such as: remain a good posture, take multiple breaks, and be aware of eye strain. It is important to be cautious of these health injuries when using the computer. Sometimes when you are on the computer, you don't even realize how long you have been using it for or that you suffer pains until after use.
This website is very reliable on not only giving health conditions when using computers, but also providing solutions to the problem. Even health tips are given to avoid health issues when using the computer, such as: "keep moving your positions whenever you are on break or having lunch etc. Avoid remaining at the computer desk while having these activities". This will help relax body muscles and not strain them. Being precarious about your health and safety will help to avoid any conditions or issues that can harm your body.
